The two-minute end-of-job routine that doubled a sparky's review count

Invoice, card, tap, go. A Melbourne electrician's actual process, written down.

An electrician writing up a job on a tablet at an open meter box, ute in the driveway

He does the same four things at every job, in the same order, and the order is the point.

One: walk the customer through what he did, in their language. Two: send the invoice on the spot from the phone. Three: while they are looking at their phone — because they just got the invoice — hand over the card and ask. Four: leave.

Step three only works because of step two. Their phone is already in their hand and already unlocked. He is not asking them to retrieve a device; he is asking them to move it fifty millimetres.

He went from about two reviews a month to nine, and he did not change his marketing, his van, or his pricing.
